Pamela Thayer Davis was a foreign service child; she was born in Beruit, Lebanon and grew up in Sydney, Australia. From a very young age her interest in animals was apparent to all that knew her. While in Australia, she had a collection of pets from snails, to budgies to a black labrador named Merlo. Her passion for horses was also apparent at an early age but unfortunately ( some irony here) her family had a sailboat, so riding horses at this time in her life did not happen. When the family made their final move to Virginia, it was with great delight that she discovered she was in horse country.
Pamela attended Radford College graduating with honors in Communication Disorders. Immediately after graduation she found a position with Prince William County schools and began her life long love affair with Fauquier county. She was an avid member of Old Dominion Hounds hunt club and rode in many ladies timber races. She also rode show hunters and eventers.. During this time period, she lived on a small self contained farm which raised pigs, beef and even had a family cow named Rosie. In 1987, Pamela decided to leave her position as a tenured speech pathologist and obtained admission to VRCVM. There she met her husband to be Joe Davis.
Joe and Pam live on a small horse farm outside of Marshall. They have two lovely girls ages 17 and 18. The girls are active members in Old Dominion Hounds Pony Club, Old Dominion Hounds hunt and they both play soccer. The family in general enjoys outdoor activities. They love to hike, swim, ride horses, go sailing and even an occasional ski trip in the winter. The family lives in a 200 year old home so that too keeps everyone very busy.
Pamela has been practicing small animal medicine since her graduation from VRCVM in 1991. She has worked for several small animal practices in the region. It is with great excitement she joins fellow classmates of VRCVM in the development of Piedmont Equine’s small animal clinic. She brings to the practice many years of experience in internal medicine, surgery and reproduction services.
