Dr. Leslie Reyes-Espinosa grew up in Miami, FL where she learned to ride horses as a child. She attended the University of Miami for her undergraduate studies and was fortunate to join the Equestrian team. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and subsequently moved to upstate New York to attend Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She then went on to complete an internship program in reproduction at Equine Reproduction Concepts in Amissville, VA where she learned to manage mares for breeding with fresh and frozen semen, helped manage an embryo transfer program, and helped with stallion collection and semen processing. Prior to joining the Piedmont Equine Practice, she spent a short time at the Marion Dupont Scott Equine Medical Center working with neonatal patients.
Dr. Reyes-Espinosa’s special interests include reproduction and neonatology. She hopes to improve her skills in lameness diagnostics and surgery. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, discovering new places to eat, gardening, and skiing with her long term boyfriend, Jeremy. She also enjoys relaxing with her two dogs, Sasha and Mia.
