Karen has been a member of the Piedmont Equine team since 2011. She serves as the head technician of the Equine Clinical Practice. Her roles are numerous, ranging from providing anesthesia coverage for the emergency and elective surgery portion of the practice to assisting all clinicians with their caseload to training new technicians and interns and maintaining the array of equipment the practice has to offer, just to name a few. If there is a question, problem or concern, she’s the one to ask!
Her favorite parts are watching the new interns grow in skill and confidence as they spend their year here and shooting the perfect set of Pre Purchase radiographs! She also enjoys the challenges of anesthesia cases, foal season and sharing the knowledge she has gained throughout the years with new staff.
In the last year, Karen has spent time behind an ultrasound probe, perfecting her technique in order to assist with ultrasound guided injections. She is also teaching the trades of anesthesia to fellow technicians and veterinary associates alike.
Karen is very proud to be a part of a team of dedicated professionals who are not just coworkers, but family.
