Dr. Joseph Wagner grew up in northern Vermont. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Animal Science from The University of Vermont. He went on to obtain his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in St. Kitts and completed his clinical year at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas. Since high school, Dr. Wagner put an emphasis on broadening his experiences in veterinary medicine. He has worked in small animal, food animal, and equine practices; and also completed a wildlife medicine internship in South Africa. Throughout them all, he has always gravitated back to equine medicine.
Dr. Wagner’s particular veterinary interests are lameness, reproduction, and emergency medicine. During his year at Piedmont Equine, he wants to sharpen his lameness diagnostic skills and gain as much experience as possible. In his free time Dr. Wagner enjoys skiing, sailing, and anything outside. He is excited to explore northern Virginia with his girlfriend, Jackie, and his dog, Shea.
Update on Dr. Wagner- he has accepted a position as an associate veterinarian at Unionville Equine Associates in Unionville, PA.
We wish him all the best!
