Alicia Yocom

Dr. Alicia Yocom grew up in San Francisco, CA where she learned to ride at the city’s public riding stables and eventually began competing on the Northern California Hunter/Jumper circuit. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science with a minor in Equine Science at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA. While at Cal Poly, she worked at the University’s Equine Center, was heavily involved in the IHSA Hunt Seat team, and participated in University projects starting and training western performance horses.

Alicia attended veterinary school at the University of California, Davis, where she had an equine focus. While at U.C. Davis, Alicia worked as a technician in the equine hospital, was a technical research assistant for two separate projects in foals, and was President for the student chapter of AAEP.

Alicia’s special interests include imaging, podiatry, internal medicine, and equine welfare. She hopes to pursue a career in general equine practice, and hopes to continue her involvement with equine welfare initiatives both here and abroad. Alicia is enjoying the beauty of the East Coast with her Cocker Spaniel, Penny, and is excited for the year ahead!
