Wildlife Medicine

We are proud to work with local, licensed Wildlife Rehab Specialists, including Sea Biscuit Wildlife Shelter to provide, pro-bono services for rehabilitation, emergency care, surgery and other animal health issues as a community service.

We see tons of water birds (mostly pelicans!) and raptors – hawks, owls, osprey, vultures and the very occasional eagle – as well as squirrels, beavers, possums, the odd deer, native turtles, other native birds.  We perform exams, take x-rays, provide therapy and perform surgeries.

The work is challenging, interesting and demands creativity (we once built a “bouncy seat” to rehabilitate a paraplegic vulture…).  The outcomes are sometimes good, but not always.  We’re privileged to be able to learn from our wild patients, and apply what we learn down the line for the next ones.
