Dental Care

We love dentistry!

OK. At least in the abstract. Sometimes when we’re trying to get a diseased tooth out of a dog with a tiny, short face or a teeny cat mouth we feel that love dwindle…

Maybe there’s a better way to say it:

We LOVE how much better we can make any animal feel by fixing what is wrong with their mouth. It’s amazing!

We recommend daily home care at home for all dogs, cats and ferrets.

Daily home care can be brushing (PREFERRED!), a dental-designed food or a wide array of dental and VOHC (Veterinary Oral Health Council) products:

But sometimes, that isn’t enough. Sometimes an animal’s genetics play a part, sometimes, they damage a tooth chewing or playing. Sometimes, they need dental care like you and I get dental care.

If you shop around, you’ll find we’re not the cheapest game in town for dentistry. But did you ever hear the phrase: you get what you pay for? Even better, do you remember what you read at the bottom of the AAHA page? We do dental health the right way. I don’t know what other places do, but here’s what we do:

  • Teeth cleaning and oral surgery is ALWAYS done under general anesthesia Find out why
  • Pre-anesthetic blood work is required to ensure anesthesia is safe for you pet
  • Constant dedicated monitoring by a trained veterinary nurse. Monitoring includes:
    • Blood pressure
    • Blood oxygen saturation
    • ECG
    • Respiratory rate
    • Heart rate
    • Temperature
  • Intravenous fluids during the procedure
  • Cleaning and probing by a training veterinary hygienist nurse
  • Dental digital x-rays
  • Oral surgery when necessary

All of our doctors have advanced dental training in oral health, oral surgery and pain management with a board-certified veterinary dentist.
