The use of our carbon dioxide surgical laser in any surgical procedure offers the benefits of reduced blood loss and less post-surgical pain as compared to traditional methods. The laser cuts through tissue using a thin beam of high intensity polarized light. As the laser cuts, it seals small blood vessels thereby preventing bleeding while also “sealing” exposed nerves, reducing pain after the procedure. These benefits prompt us to recommend use of the laser in all our surgeries.
Because maintaining the laser and certain supplies necessary for its use are somewhat expensive, there is a modest additional charge for any surgical procedure involving use of the laser. This charge typically ranges from $25.00 to $75.00. We want our clients to always be an active participant in decisions regarding the care of their pet. Therefore, where use of the laser is not essential to a successful surgical outcome, we offer our clients their choice of using or not using the laser for elective surgical procedures.
