At Port Hope Veterinary Hospital, we want your pet to live a long and happy life. Prevention is the cornerstone of excellent health care. Annual physical examination is the most critical component of preventative care. Annual physical examination allows us to identify problems early such as dental disease, lumps, heart murmurs and joint disease (just to name a few). At this visit we will also address any concerns you may have about your pet. Pets age seven times faster than humans; in senior patients we encourage twice yearly examinations. Our vaccination programs are tailored to your pet’s life style. We encourage wellness testing to aid in the early detection of disease. This is particularly important in our senior pets. Wellness testing includes routine blood and urine testing. Health conditions such as kidney disease, heart disease and cancer can be quite advanced before symptoms re noticed. Early detection allows us to treat the condition earlier helping your pet to live a longer, happier life. Wellness testing also provides a baseline for what is normal for your pet. This can be useful for comparison if your pet is ill. Our team welcomes any questions you might have about your pet’s health care needs.
