Patient of the Month

“Zeus” Stewert

By September 1, 2013 No Comments

Zeus is a handsome 4 month old Cane Corso puppy, who came to us one evening after sustaining an injury to his hind left leg. He was quite painful on arrival, so Dr. Jones administered some pain control medications before going forward with digital radiographs. Within minutes, it could be seen that Zeus had suffered both a tibia and fibula fracture of his leg.

Once Zeus had been diagnosed, his leg was immediately stabilized by use of splint and he was placed on intravenous fluids. Once he was resting comfortably, we called Dr. Jandi, our mobile orthopedic surgeon, to book Zeus in for surgery the very next day. Zeus would need a metal plate put in to immobilize his break.

Zeus’ surgery was a success and he is on the road to recovery! Before his accident, he had recently finished up a complimentary 6 week Petsecure Insurance Trial, and his owner had decided continue on with coverage. Petsecure Insurance will be covering 80% of the cost for Zeus’ surgery and hospitalization with us here at Oak Animal Hospital!
