“Sola” Yard

By December 1, 2012 No Comments

Sola is a beautiful female black and white domestic shorthair cat of 5 years old, who was presented with vomiting, decreased appetite, and abdominal pain recently at Oak Animal Hospital. Upon Dr. Christine Ong’s physical examination, bloodwork, urinalysis, and an ultrasound were recommended to figure out what was causing Sola’s distress. Dr. Dhillon performed an abdominal ultrasound on the same day, and afterwards Dr. Ong phoned the owner to inform her that there was a possible gastric foreign body that was could very well be the cause of Sola’s symptoms. She was kept on IV fluids and supportive therapy at Oak Animal Hospital in preparation for her gastrointestinal endoscopy under general anesthetic the next day. The endoscopy was performed with great success! Dr. Dhillon was able to retrieve a plastic item from Sola’s stomach during the procedure. She had a smooth recovery in hospital, and was sent home on clavamox, famotidine, and sulcrate to help her get back to her normal self. Today Sola is as happy as ever and continues to do well at home!
