The Farley Foundation
In 2002, the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) created a foundation that assists people in need by subsidizing the cost of veterinary care for their sick/injured pets. Veterinarians recognize the special relationship that occurs between humans and their pets; and how important animals are for overall health and well-being. This holds especially true for elderly or disabled people, as they depend on their pet for companionship, and quality of life. The Farley Foundation believes in responsible pet ownership, and expects that owners are responsible for providing the necessities of life for their animal companion including food, regular veterinary care, and vaccinations. However, when unforeseen accidents or illnesses arise, the foundation is in place to assist those that truly require financial assistance to help their pet get better. Not everyone is eligible for assistance, and eligibility criteria are reviewed annually to ensure the greatest number of people and their pets are supported.
