Fear Free was founded in 2016 and introduced to the Veterinary world as a way to improve pet’s lives through solving the reasons behind their often times stressful veterinary visits. The mission is to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress in pets by inspiring and educating the people who care for them. It was this same year that Care Animal Hospital formed our Stress-Free Committee with representatives from all aspects of our hospital to open conversation on how we could incorporate the concept of Fear Free into our clinical setting. “We don’t want our patients to be afraid of us and miss out on lifesaving health care” was the foundation for everything we did moving forward. One by one we took the Fear Free Certification course and started applying Fear Free principles into our everyday hospital lives. Our Stress-Free Committee took that training and became a vital resource in providing insight into the hospital design for our brand-new facility that opened in 2017 that boasts separate waiting areas for dogs and cats and offers Alternate Check-in Protocols for pets that do not do well with other pets. After applying Fear Free principles to all of our hospital protocols and having all of our staff Fear Free Certified, we applied for Fear Free Practice Certification in 2019. Since then, we have been transforming lives one patient at time, one pet parent at a time, and the results have been undeniable.
